New York Part 1

In March I went out to New York to take part in a Martha Stewart web series called I Do My Do. I spent 8 days out there shooting the series, eating tons of food, and visiting friends.  I met some amazing people that week, and got a little help for the wedding as well. The first night, I  met up with Fran, Darla, Matt and Sarah for some drinks after I dropped off my luggage at the hotel. On day 1, we went to Rue 57 with the producers, Phil and Marilyn. We were told to meet in the lobby of our hotel, and it was there that I met the 3 other brides, Erica, Genise, and Meshay. They were all super sweet, and we were got to know each other a little better over lunch. (Rue 57 reminded me of Balthazar. YUM.) From there, Genise and I took a cab to the Met. We walked through my favorite area, the Oceania room, then through the Boroque rooms followed by a quick tour upstairs before they closed. (It was Sunday, so they closed early.) We followed that up with a walk in Central Park. I love it there so much! We left the park and ogled the window displays on 5th. I could not believe the Luis V. windows. Woodland critters fashioned out of bags and purses. Amazing!!! We walked to the Plaza before leaving the area and had a glass of wine in the Oak Bar. I could not stop thinking of Jasmine and her Home Alone impersonations. Ding Dang Dong. For dinner we went to Eataly, Mario Battali's new uber-restaurant. Eataly was amazing! It is a melange of restaurants, markets, charcutterie, fromage, wine, beers, and baguettes. There was something for everyone!  There are 5 dining experiences all under one roof, plus the plus the more formal Manzo. We chose the eat at Il Peshe, the fish restaurant. The raw sea scallops we ordered were incredible. We called it a night from there and walked back to our hotel to get some sleep.

Hot Tub Time Machine Weekend

It must be some kind of hot tub time machine...
In the March we went to Tahoe and stayed at the Tunnel Creek Lodge.   We stopped at Mt Rose first. Kit, Nikki, Adam, and Dags rode while Iris and I shared some drinks in the lodge. We had no idea what we were in for once we drove up to the cabin though. This place was incredible! My parents had arrived first, and we were greeted with the smells of crock pots and chili on the burners. Dad handed us each a cold brew, and we all went running from room to room ogling the spread. It looked like a movie set! Perfect for the weekend's theme: Hot Tub Time Machine.....Tunnel Creek Lodge actually sits on the property Bonanza as filmed at from 1959-1973. Stacie Nice, our amazing producer for the Martha Stewart show, met us there and had a quick tour. They filmed some shots and B roll of us over the weekend for the Martha thing. Jeff, Alec, and Rose came into town a little later that night, as did Anna and Jeremy. We had 13 people staying at the
Lodge. At night, Iris and Anna made Chernoblys while Adam rigged up his megala speakers. After an amazing dinner, we hot tubbed, danced, and enjoyed the amazing house. The next day was spent at Squaw. While Kit and I stayed back to film with Stacie's crew, everyone else was at Squaw. We finally met up with everyone, including Ian and Danielle back at the Resort. We had a few drinks in the village, then went to dinner at Blue Agave. Later that night me made more Chernoblys and watched the boys get into character. Some of the night owls took off for the Casinos, but I was in no mood for that. Sunday, I had the pleasure of being "iced" by my dad and Jeremy. I think Kit was in on it too, but I will never know. It was the first and hopefully last time that will happen. Hopefully we will be able to have a Hot Tub Time machine Weekend II next year!

Do I really gotta be the asshole who says we got in this thing and went back in time?
